WOUNED CHILDHOOD
The Community Health Foundation in Sri Lanka uses art therapy to help children recover from the trauma of sexual abuse. Children’s artwork has also been used as evidence for apprehending and prosecuting abusers. A drawing by a 10-year-old child shows his sexual abuse by a local schoolmaster, being filmed for a pornographic video.

Two hijras, the traditional ‘third gender’ of South Asia, entertain at a wedding party. Excited by the performance, a guest throws money into the air. Among the Pathans of northern Pakistan, men seldom mix socially with money other than their wives of family members. On festive occasions, the ‘female entertainment’ is provided by hijras.
